The spring 2021 issue of the Mental Health Wales journal is out now and it marks the launch of a new charity: Adferiad Recovery.
Adferiad Recovery is the result of a merger between four charities: Adferiad Recovery, CAIS, Hafal and WCADA. The new charity will have a particular focus on people with mental health problems, substance misuse problems, and those with co-occurring and complex needs.
In the issue we interview Adferiad Recovery’s first Chief Executive Alun Thomas and talk about his goals for the charity. We also talk to Hafal Practice Leader Ruth Wilson about her experiences of co-occurring mental health and addiction issues, and her path to recovery.
Adferiad Recovery Chair Clive Wolfendale writes on the issue of stigma, asking whether there is an opportunity for the organisation to tackle it in a new way; plus we report on some key new funding for anti-stigma work in Wales.
