Amendments to Mental Capacity Bill Welcomed

The Making Decisions Alliance, a coalition of leading UK charities including Age Concern, Rethink, Mind, the Mental Health Foundation and Carers UK, has welcomed amendments to the Mental Capacity Bill which will give greater power to those who have a limited capacity to make decisions.

The Bill, which provides a legal framework for people with limited mental capacity in Wales and England, had its report stage in the House of Lords yesterday (March 15th).

Richard Kramer, co-Chair of MDA, said: “The Government have really listened to our concerns about the Bill and these latest amendments will go a long way to giving people with limited capacity the same rights and the same control of their day to day lives as everyone else.”
