Peter Hain MP, Secretary of State for Wales, discusses Hafal’s Recovery Programme with John Abbott, Campaigns Manager at Hafal.
A number of AMs and MPs headed for the Hafal exhibition at the Eisteddfod this week to discuss issues facing people with a mental illness and their carers in Wales.
Speaking to Campaigns Manager John Abbott, Peter Hain MP, Secretary of State for Wales, talked about the Government of Wales Act and the potential for Welsh legislation. They also discussed the importance of developing an effective Code of Practice for Wales once the UK Government’s amendments have been made to the 1983 Mental Health Act. During his visit Mr Hain expressed his full support for the work of Hafal.
Shadow Health and Social Services Minister Helen Mary Jones AM, pictured below, also visited the stand to show her support.
