Jonathan Morgan’s mental health Legislative Competence Order (LCO) passed another key milestone yesterday when the First Delegated Legislation Committee of the House of Commons approved the proposal.
The aim of the LCO is to give the Welsh Assembly Government powers to make its own laws (known as “Measures”) on assessment, treatment and advocacy. Following yesterday’s meeting the Chair of the First Delegated Legislation Committee, Martin Caton MP, will now report to the House of Commons for formal approval of the LCO.
Mr Morgan, Conservative AM for Cardiff North, first proposed the LCO in October 2007. It is expected to receive Royal Approval this Spring.
