New mental health strategy for England launched today

The UK Government launched a mental health strategy for England today. The strategy places emphasis on dealing with problems at an early stage and pledges an extra £400m to improve access to psychological therapies.

The Government states that “While this strategy is specific to England, the challenges are common across the four countries of the United Kingdom. We will work closely with the Devolved Administrations in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, recognising their particular and varying responsibilities. Each will consider the most appropriate arrangements to address the issues in ways that meet their own circumstances and needs.”
