WAG to consult on Mental Health (Wales) Measure regulations

The Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) will shortly be opening a consultation programme on three sets of Regulations that are to be made in connection with the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.

These Regulations will be concerned with:

• Care coordination and care and treatment planning in secondary mental health services.
• Assessments for former users of secondary mental health services.
• Independent mental health advocacy.

To support the consultation programme, WAG will be running a number of events where you will be able to share your views on the proposals with them. These events will be held across Wales and will take place in March 2011.

Whilst attendance at these events is free of charge, places are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis, so you will need to let WAG know if you are interested in attending.

WAG have arranged two types of consultation events – the first particularly aimed at service users and carers, and the second where service users, carers, health and social professionals, advocates and others are welcome to attend.

Events particularly for service users and carers are being held on:

7 March – Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff
11 March – Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea
17 March – Management Centre, Bangor
23 March – Town Library, Haverfordwest
1 April – AVOW, Wrexham

Events that are open to all are being held on:

10 March – WAG offices, Merthyr Tydfil
16 March – The Assembly Rooms, Llandudno
18 March – WAG offices, Aberystwyth
24 March – Hill House, Carmarthen
28 March – ECM2, Port Talbot
30 March – Glyndwr University, Wrexham

You can book your place at one of the consultation events by completing and submitting a form which is available from: mentalhealthandvulnerablegroups@wales.gsi.gov.uk.
