Wales Online has reported that according to NHS figures the number of people beingadmitted to Welsh hospitals for eating disorders increased by 10% in just oneyear. Health board statistics show there were 274 admissions between 2011-2013, with an increase from 130 to 144 between 2011-2012 and 2012-2013.
A spokeswoman for eatingdisorder charity Beat Cymru told Wales Online: “The increase in hospital admissionsfor people with eating disorders is concerning and could indicate that peoplehave been unable to access support at an earlier stage in their illness.”
