Mental Health UK calls out for stories on mental health and money

Mental Health UK is a new charity which has brought together the strength and expertise of Hafal, Rethink Mental Illness,  Support in Mind Scotland and MindWise.

Mental Health UK is keen to hear from people who have experience of mental health and money problems, in order to help understand the current issues in this area and support Mental Health UK to create a pioneering Mental Health and Money Advice Service, which will offer support for people experiencing both mental health and money difficulties.

If you have experienced mental illness and money problems yourself or through a close family member or partner and would like to talk about it to raise awareness you could become a media volunteer for Mental Health UK. By sharing your story, you could provide a unique viewpoint to highlight issues which might help people facing the same challenges or improve understanding among others.

Initially, you will speak to a member of the media team to discuss you experiences. Then, it depends what opportunities arise, but there are a number of ways that media volunteers play their part. You could be interviewed for a national newspaper, glossy magazine or a radio show. You could be asked in as a guest on news programme on TV such as BBC Breakfast or Channel 4 News – depending on what you are comfortable with.
