Mental Health UK calls for January 15th to become a Bright Blue Monday

The third Monday of January is commonly referred to as ‘Blue Monday’ – which signifies the most depressing day of the year. However, charity Mental Health UK has called this “absurd”, pointing out that any day of the year can be equally as difficult for someone living with a mental illness.

As a result, Mental Health UK want to make 15 January into “Bright Blue Monday”, recognising that with the right care and support, a better life for everyone affected by mental illness can be achieved.

Mental Health UK are looking for as many people as possible to back Bright Blue Monday, so here are a few easy ways you can get involved:

  • wear something bright, or something that makes you happy
  • brighten someone’s day
  • text MNDY70 £3 to 70070 to donate £3 to Mental Health UK
  • share photos on social media with the hashtag #BrightBlueMonday.

If you’d like to help share the Bright Blue Monday message you can download Mental Health UK’s Bright Blue Monday poster and put it up in your workplace, school or local cafe.
