Coventry Welsh Ladies rugby team produce ‘naked calendar’ to raise funds for Mental Health UK!

The Coventry Welsh Ladies rugby team have produced a naked 2020 calendar to increase body confidence for young women and to fundraise for Mental Health UK.

The story behind the calendar traces back to a conversation a member of the team had with her 11-year-old niece, where she mentioned she wanted to lose weight despite being a fit and healthy young woman.

As a result the Coventry Welsh squad came together in a bid to help break this mindset and showcase what real women look like, away from the airbrushed and Photoshopped images we see in the media.

As well as fundraising, Coventry Welsh Ladies are shouting these two key messages as loud as they can:

  • Sport is an amazing way to exercise and maintain a healthy mind and body
  • Skinny does not necessarily = healthy or happy.

The funds raised from the sale of this calendar will be halved between Mental Health UK and Coventry Welsh RFC.

Mental Health UK supports people affected by mental health problems including friends, family and carers. Working across the UK, they bring together over 40 years of expertise from the four national founding charity partners – Rethink Mental Illness (England), Hafal (Wales), Mindwise (Northern Ireland) and Support in Mind Scotland (Scotland) – to improve understanding and provide vital care.
